This is a list of online resources for local marketers that I have compiled.
Couponing Services
- Google Maps - this allows you to add a coupon to your Google Maps listing
- Zixxo - appears to have a fairly robust system for creating various types of online promotions
Local Search Engines and Internet Yellow Pages
- A9 Yellow Pages - Currently closed to new business listings. Apparently, they use Acxiom's business listings database, so if you get incorporated into Acxiom's database, you'll get added to Amazon's yellow pages.
- CitySearch
- Dex Online - Qwest Yellow Pages. When listing a business, it wasn't clear whether I was adding a free business profile or signing up to have a rep contact me for a premium service. (add)
- Google Maps - Google's local search engine, which used to be called Google Local, but got integrated with Google Maps
- Judy's Book - a city guide like CitySearch
- Insider Pages - a city guide that looks a lot like CitySearch. (add)
- Local.com
- Shop Local - a local shopping engine
- Verizon Superpages - also offers enhanced placements, a larger coverage area and enhanced listing designs at additional cost. (add)
- Yahoo Local - also offers 'Featured Listing' for $25 a month
- Yellowpages.com - also offers premium listings with enhanced placements and listing design. (add)
- Yelp.com - a city guide with a focus on peer reviews
- Zipingo.com - a city guide that is entirely user driven. Their policy is to not allow businesses to list themselves, so if you're going to pose as a user and submit a review for your own business, do so at your own risk.
Search Engine Optimization
SEO is an animal unto its own and there are many people who are very passionate about it. Here are some SEO blogs that I read.
